Privacy notice
Think Nest is an online learning community for students, parents and teachers. Many of our users are children, so we take privacy and safety very seriously. This notice explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored securely, we can never see it), role (student, parent or teacher), and country.
- Student details: age group, grade, curriculum, school, and a parent or guardian’s name and email.
- Family details: the children a parent lists when signing up, and the links between parent and child accounts.
- Teacher details: subjects, grade levels, qualifications, experience, school, phone number and a short bio.
- Learning information: courses joined, lessons completed, work handed in, quiz answers and marks, teacher feedback, attendance, certificates, Nest Points and badges.
- What you share: posts, comments, photos, files and messages in the Community, study groups, classes, chats, and the Teacher and Parent hubs and cafés.
- Messages to us: anything you send through the Contact form or a job application.
- Basic technical information: log-in times and similar records our hosting provider keeps to run the service securely.
We do not show adverts, sell personal information, or use it for marketing by other companies.
2. Why we use it
- To create and run accounts, and to check every new account before it is approved.
- To provide courses, lessons, live classes, marking, attendance and certificates.
- To let students, parents and teachers communicate safely, and to let parents follow their child’s learning.
- To send important emails and notifications, such as account approval, password resets and certificates. You can switch optional emails off in Account Settings.
- To keep the community safe, including checking reported or automatically flagged content.
- To improve Think Nest and fix problems.
3. Children and parents
- Children under 13 cannot create their own account. A parent or guardian must sign up first and invite them.
- Every new account, including every child’s account, is checked and approved by the Think Nest team before it can be used.
- Parents who choose a joined family account can see their child’s courses, progress, certificates, rewards, attendance and chats. Otherwise, the child is asked to accept the link.
- Children only see first names and initials of other students on leaderboards.
4. Who can see what
- Teachers see information about students in their own courses and classes: names, grades, work, marks and attendance.
- Parents see information about their own linked children.
- Other members see only what you share in community spaces you belong to, together with your name and role.
- The Teacher Café and Parent Café are private: only approved members of that hub can see them.
- The Think Nest team can see account information and review content when needed to run the service and keep it safe.
- Anyone with a certificate’s code can check that it is genuine. They see only the first name and initial, the title and the date.
5. Keeping everyone safe
- Adults can never start a private chat with a child. Students can only chat privately with friends who have both agreed.
- Messages containing phone numbers, email addresses, social media or personal invitations are automatically flagged for the Think Nest team to review.
- Private messages between adults in the hubs are for professional purposes only and may be reviewed by the Think Nest team.
- Everyone can report a post or message, and block another user.
- Teachers may be asked to approve student posts before they appear in the Community.
6. Services we use
We use a small number of trusted services to run Think Nest:
- Supabase stores accounts, learning information and files securely. Our data is held on servers in Mumbai, India.
- GitHub Pages hosts the website pages.
- Google (Gmail) sends our emails from thinknest2026@gmail.com.
- Google Gemini helps teachers create lesson activities. Only the learning objective, grade, subject and the teacher’s notes are sent. Student names and personal details are never sent.
- Lessons may include links to, or videos from, other websites such as YouTube or Google Forms. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
7. How long we keep it
We keep information while an account is active. When an account is deleted, its personal information, posts, messages and files are removed from Think Nest, usually within 30 days. We may keep a short record that the account existed, and anything we must keep by law.
8. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your information in Account Settings, or ask us for a copy.
- Delete your account: use Request account deletion in Account Settings, or contact us. Parents can ask us to delete their child’s account.
- Switch off optional emails in Account Settings.
- Ask questions or complain: contact us using the details below. We aim to reply within two working days.
We aim to follow the data protection laws of the United Arab Emirates and good practice for children’s privacy.
